For the love of Weimaraners, a new addition

In October, when we lost Sophie girl, we couldn't imagine loving another dog.  Although the house seemed so quiet as well.  "Imagine how lucky another puppy would be to have you love her as you loved Sophie" were the kindest and best words to hear.  Other friends gave us the same advice.  Steve and I were ready for baby steps.  I began by visiting breeder websites.  It provided me with a sense of moving forward.  Sophie was from Springfield, Missouri, and I believe that she guided me to Okefeild Acres.  Immediately, I knew that it was the right place for us to find our new girl.  From the videos, you could tell the amount of love that the puppies received from minute one.  On the phone, Janet was just as friendly, informative and caring.  We put a deposit down on a puppy knowing that we would have until the Spring before she was born.  Time moved forward.  We began being able to live with missing Sophie, and knew she would always be with us.  We began getting excited about the prospect of a new puppy. It gave us hope.  Not wanting to call her the puppy, we named her Lilly.

After a night out celebrating a birthday with friends, I woke up early to an email from Janet.  Dreamer, the beautiful Weimaraner who we thought would be giving birth to Lilly in February or March was giving birth as I read!  Immediately, I woke Steve up to share the exciting news.  We knew that we were ready for Lilly, and news of Dreamer having her pups was the best holiday gift that we could recieve.

In January, we fly to Kansas City to meet Lilly.  Of course, she has to pick us out first!  Okefeild Acres is a three hour drive from KC.  It will be a whirlwind trip for us.  Come February Lilly will be flying to Florida.  I am assuming that she will be the smartest girl in the litter knowing that she has a chance to move to sunny Florida, hang out on the beach, go boating, and, of course, be spoiled by Steve and I.  Training classes start soon after her arrival.  We are researching trainers and planning for her arrival.

We cannot wait for everyone to meet Lilly.  Although I have not met her yet, she already has a piece of our hearts.

Below you'll find a photo of Dreamer's girls along, with the first video posted by Janet.  The pups are a week old and beautiful!

And there is a video too!

  1. What a great video! They are just so adorable. And Love the way Dreamer reaches out to the one or two pups that got squished outside the mob. And just think. You;re getting to experience all the things you missed with Soph.
    Love, Mom
